Havasu Falls The name Havasupai means people of the blue-green waters, a name derived from the minerals that add color to the water. To reach the falls, you have to hike down Hualapai Canyon. You can also horseback down, or take a helicopter. The entrance fee in 2007 was $35, the lodge was $125, and the copter ride one way was $85. I choose to hike in and copter out. Havasu Falls are located about 1.5 miles from the village of Supi. The small village of Supi is home to about 450 Havasupi, whose main industry is now tourism. Havasu Creek flows from a spring and thus there is water to the falls year round. The above image was taken with an SLR Lecia 35mm camera using Fuji velvia film. THe imag was scanned and printed using a 12 color Cannon iPF 9000 Giclee inkjet printer. www.phillipandersonphotography.com |
